Ann E. Robinson

Ann E. Robinson received her PhD in History from the University of Massachusetts Amherst where her dissertation examined the roles of pedagogy and research in the development of a standard form of the periodic table.  Her other major project explores the controversies surrounding the discovery and naming of the superheavy elements, and the role played by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry in resolving those controversies.  She has been a fellow at the Science History Institute and the Consortium for History of Science, Technology and Medicine, both in Philadelphia.  Currently she chairs the Physical Sciences Forum of the History of Science Society and works in reference services at Harvard University’s Widener Library.
