Chris Otter

Christopher Otter is the author of The Victorian Eye: A Political History of Light and Vision in Britain, 1800-1910 (University of Chicago Press, 2008), which was awarded the Morris D. Forkosch Prize of the American Historical Association.  Professor Otter received his PhD from the University of Manchester in 2002, and his research interests include the history of technology, the history of food and nutrition, and environmental history. His area of geographical focus is Europe, particularly Britain, from the late eighteenth to the early twentieth century. He has published articles in Social History, the Journal of British Studies, Cultural Geographies, Food and History, Cultural Studies, History Today, and History of Technology.
