Elizabeth Perego

Elizabeth Perego is a PhD candidate in Modern African history at the Ohio State University.  Her research analyzes Islam, culture, and politics in the contemporary Maghrib and her dissertation, "Laughing in the Face of Death," investigates the function of humor during Algeria's "dark decade" of the 1990s. She is currently based in Algiers, Algeria.
