Russell Field

Russell Field is an assistant professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada, where he teaches and researches on the history and sociology of sport and physical activity. Forthcoming publications include a history of ice hockey spectators at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens and New York’s Madison Square Gardens in the 1930s and a co-edited collection from Routledge, "To Remember Is to Resist": 40 Years of Sport and Social Change, 1968-2008. His current research includes historical and contemporary case studies of lesser-known global sporting events.
