5/18/2015: Best in History Online: Hypercities

From time to time, we like to take a moment to highlight fantastic history sites from around the web. These are websites that – much like Origins – seek to bring history into public conversation.

This month, our BOH (Best in History Online) pick comes in the form of a website dedicated to reinventing the way we think about mapping.

Home page of HyperCities: Thick Mapping in the Digital Humanities.

HyperCities: Thick Mapping in the Digital Humanities is the brain child of a group of digital humanists intent on presenting ideas of "thick mapping within the humanities." Reimagine Vancouver, Canada with their project to digitally reconstruct urban development in the early 20th century. Or explore how social media sites like Twitter can shape the narrative for historic events.

So be sure to check out the above projects as well as their other inventive stories for this month's innovative Best in History Online, Hypercities!
