A Postcard from Hiroshima

Hiroshima Memorial

Based off the Origins article, A Postcard from Hiroshima, this lesson was designed to tie in history to several eighth grade Common Core State Standards. First, students will compare and contrast textual evidence provided by primary and secondary sources. The second learning objective is for students to evaluate the influence and importance of the media’s role in public opinion of Hiroshima. While the material is presented in a PowerPoint, it may be uploaded to VoiceThread.com in order to create an online and interactive learning environment.  This lesson also utilizes Twitter in order to have a live chat to extend learning after students have completed the questions and assignments on VoiceThread.
