Christopher A. Reed (PhD, UC Berkeley) teaches East Asian history at The Ohio State University. He currently covers courses on modern China, Japan, & East Asia, along with a senior seminar on the 2nd Sino-Japanese War (1937-45). His research focuses on China’s modern print media. Author of an award-winning book, Gutenberg in Shanghai: Chinese Print Capitalism, 1876-1937 (2004), co-editor of the volume From Woodblocks to the Internet: Chinese Publishing and Print Culture in Transition, circa 1800 to 2008 (2010), and former editor of the historical journal Twentieth-Century China, he is currently researching the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT/GMD)’s publishing activities.
