Karen Spierling is Associate Professor of History and Director of Global Commerce at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. She is the author/editor of three books and a specialist in the history of early modern Europe, particularly the Genevan Reformation. Her current book project, Scandalizing Christians: Forging a Reformed Society in Reformation Geneva, explores sixteenth-century concepts of scandal and the roles those ideas played in debates and decisions about how to define the Reformed community.
