We'd like to take a moment to highlight fantastic history sites from around the web. These are sites that – much like Origins – seek to bring history into public conversation.
In this post, we feature Not Even Past, a site founded in 2010 by the Department of History at the University of Texas at Austin. Inspired by William Faulkner's claim, “The past is never dead. It’s not even past,” Not Even Past seeks to put present beliefs, values, and actions into conversation with our historical past.
Each month, the site posts new book recommendations, historical films, and faculty research (in addition to many other features).
Especially important to Not Even Past is local history, and much of their site is committed to featuring the newest studies and scholarship on the Lone Star State, Texas.
Not Even Past also boasts two notable affiliated projects:
- 15 Minute History - a podcast for secondary school teachers and students
- Our/stories - a site for the sharing of personal memories and stories
We here at Origins, highly recommend you check out their fabulous site, and follow Not Even Past on social media sites Facebook and Twitter!
