Best in History Online: The History Chicks

From time to time, we like to take a moment to highlight fantastic history sites from around the web. These are websites that – much like Origins – seek to bring history into public conversation.

“First off: This isn’t History 101 and there is no test.”

May’s Best in History Online is an online podcast and blog about women in history by women.

The History Chicks introduce you to female characters in history, factual or fictional, via podcast and shownotes and provide followers with an introduction, an overview and a little push to explore and learn more on their own. Each podcast episode is about an hour long with accompanying text, images, and conversational style to captivate listeners and teach them about women in history.

From royalty like Marie Antoinette and Catherine the Great to modern women like Helen Keller and Rosa Parks, from famous women Cleopatra and Abigail Adams to fictional characters Red Riding Hood and Cinderella, the History Chicks are prepared to teach you a thing or two about female characters in history!

Go listen to one of their podcasts, check out their stories, or follow them on Twitter (@Thehistorychix); whatever you choose, check out the History Chicks!
