Alisher Khaliyarov

Alisher Khaliyarov is a Ph.D. student and teaching assistant in the Department of History at the Ohio State University. His research interests include the history of cash waqf endowments, administration of waqf properties, regional trade and legal issues in money lending agreements in the 19^th century Central Asia. His dissertation focuses on legal background and utilization process of cash waqf endowments of Khivan Khanate in the 19^th century. He holds BA in International Business with Honors (2009) from the University Utara Malaysia, and MA in Islamic Finance (2011) from the International Center for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF). He is a recipient of full tuition Chancellor’s scholarship and full scholarship from the Central Bank of Malaysia during his bachelors and master’s degree studies respectively. Prior to beginning the Ph.D. program, Alisher worked as a visiting scholar in the Department of Islamic Studies, University of Bonn, Germany with the financial support of the Gerda Henkel Foundation. He has broad range of archival research experience from the archives in Uzbekistan and Saint Petersburg, Russia in 2013-2015. He also worked as an assistant technical editor on E-Book project in Origins, OSU.
