Brian J. McAllister is Senior Lecturer of English at The Ohio State University. He teaches 20th-century British and Irish literature and has presented or published on a number of topics, ranging from science fiction to the biopolitics of bureaucratic space to impossible monumental spaces. He has edited a recent special issue of Narrative that explores the intersections of poetry studies and narrative theory, which includes his essay on visual poetry, and has published on science-fiction poetry in the journal Science Fiction Studies. His most recent project investigates ways that late-20th-century Scottish and Irish art and literature revise concepts of nationhood and national identity through spatial disorientation.
