Eric H. Limbach received his PhD in History from Michigan State University in 2011 with a dissertation on the reception and integration of East German refugees in West Germany prior to the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961. A portion of this research on West Berlin’s refugee reception system in the early 1950s was published in the journal Central European History in 2014. At Ohio State, he teaches survey courses on World and European history as well as more focused courses on the World since 1914, Europe 1900-1950, and Germany in the 19th and 20th centuries; he also teaches in the university’s General Education Bookends program.
