Ian Ritchie is Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Brock University in Ontario, Canada. His research interests include performance-enhancing drug use in sport and the history of anti-doping rules, media and sport, gender and sport, and various aspects of the Olympic Games. He teaches courses on the sociology of sport, history and sociology of the modern Olympic Games, and sociological theory and sport. Ian co-authored (with Rob Beamish, Queen’s University) the book Fastest, Highest, Strongest: A Critique of High-Performance Sport (Routledge, 2006) and he is currently writing a second book on the history of anti-doping policies in the Olympic Games.
