Kyle Tadlock is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in the History Department at The Ohio State University. His areas of study are Ancient History, Medieval History, and Near Eastern History. His particular interest is ancient warfare, especially mercenaries, the poor, and others who operated on the fringes of what was socially and culturally acceptable in times of conflict. He is currently working on his dissertation, which reexamines the relationship between mercenary and tyrants on ancient Sicily.
