Lisa Zevorich Susner

Lisa Zevorich Susner is a doctoral candidate in Early American History at The Ohio State University. Her research interests include religion, print culture (especially children’s books), reform movements, the history of literacy, the history of childhood, historical memory, and museums/public history. Her current dissertation research examines the origins of critical reasoning in the nineteenth century through an examination of the views of religious educators of various backgrounds, including Protestant, Roman Catholic, and Jewish. Lisa has taught several classes, both in person and online, including the early American history survey and the history of American religion to the Civil War. In addition to her academic background, she has worked at numerous museums and historic sites, including James A. Garfield National Historic Site in Mentor, Ohio.
