Miriam Kingsberg Kadia

Professor Kadia received her Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley in 2009. Her first book, Moral Nation: Modern Japan and Narcotics in Global History (University of California Press, 2014), won the Eugene V. Kayden Book Award. Her second book, Into the Field: Human Scientists of Transwar Japan, was published by Stanford University Press in Fall 2019. Her new book project explores the global history of sleep as a sociocultural practice. Her work has appeared in the Journal for Asian Studies, Comparative Studies in Society and History, Monumenta Nipponica, the Journal of Japanese Studies, Modern Asian Studies, and other journals.
