Robin L. Roe

Robin L. Roe (PhD, Texas A&M University—College Station) taught disaster history at Texas A&M University, including public history courses on disaster and memory. Her research focuses on the role of newspaper media during disasters in creating or reinforcing bias, particularly in the early 1900s. Now retired from teaching, she is currently revising a manuscript, “On the Borders of Disaster.” Recent publications included an article comparing English and Spanish language newspapers during the 1921 San Antonio flood, “The Fight for Visibility: La Prensa, la Cruz Azul Mexicana, la Sociedad Hidalgo, and the American Red Cross in the 1921 San Antonio Flood.” She is currently researching the related role of sensationalist books and pamphlets in disasters in the late 1800s through early 1900s.
