Wietse de Boer

Wietse de Boer teaches early-modern European history at Miami University.  His research is focused on the religious and cultural history of Italy between the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries.  His publications have addressed the history of confession, the Inquisition, and theories of religious art. He is currently completing a book entitled The Counter-Reformation of the Senses: Sensory Culture and Religious Conflict in Early Modern Italy.
