Gladiators and Football

Russell Crowe as a gladiator, a football player from early football and a present day football player

Knocking opponents to the ground, intense hatred for adversaries, and roaring crowds cheering for a victory. Does this describe 21st century United States’ football or gladiatorial games of Ancient Rome? How do these events compare? This lesson will compare and contrast the Roman Gladiatorial Games to American football. The lesson will end with students researching topics and creating an Infographic to increase awareness about the consequences of playing American football.
