Angela Brintlinger

Angela Brintlinger is Professor of Slavic languages and cultures at The Ohio State University where she teaches classes on Russian literature, cuisine, and culture. Her specialties include émigré literature, the genre of biography, and representations of madness and war in literature. She is the author of Chapaev and his Comrades: War and the Russian Literary Hero in the Twentieth Century (Academic Studies Press 2012) and Writing a Usable Past: Russian Literary Biography 1917-1937 (Northwestern UP 2000, 2008), the editor of Chekhov for the Twentieth Century (Slavica 2012) and Madness and the Mad in Russian Culture (U of Toronto P 2007), and the translator of Derzhavin: A Biography by Vladislav Khodasevich (U of Wisconsin P 2007). Her current project is related to her blog, The Manic Bookstore Café, where she writes about Russian and Polish literature and culture. Professor Brintlinger received her PhD from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and has been on the Ohio State faculty since 1994.
