Carol Hess

Carol A. Hess teaches at the University of California, Davis, where she is a Distinguished Professor of Music.  She has received numerous awards and grants for her research on music and politics in the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking world. Twice a Fulbright lecturer, she has taught in Spain, Chile, and Argentina. Her most recent book, on Aaron Copland’s cultural diplomacy in Latin America (University of Illinois Press), appeared in early 2023 and her book on the Spanish composer Manuel de Falla will appear in early 2025 (Oxford University Press).
