Jessica Brannon-Wranosky

Dr. Jessica Brannon-Wranosky holds the Distinguished Professor of Digital Humanities & History at TexasA&M University-Commerce. Her work often takes the form of large public-facing history projects—including(but not limited to) serving as associate producer and lead historical advisor for the 2024 documentary, Shaking It Up: The Life and Times of Liz Carpenter, produced and directed by Abby Ginzberg and Christy Carpenter and premiered at the 2024 South By Southwest International Film Festival; central production and advisory roles in the 2020 PBS documentary, co-produced by Ellen Temple and Nancy Schiesari, Citizens At Last: TexasWomen Fight for the Vote, based largely on Wranosky’s suffrage research and publications. She has since co-produced, with Temple and Schiesari, a series of five short films focused on Texas suffragists released in 2024. She is currently co-editor with Merline Pitre, Bruce Glasrud, and Cecilia Gutierrez-Venable for the anthology, Centuries of Voices: Portraits of Black Women in Texas History, a print anthology of over 70 biographical articles stretching over three centuries (forthcoming Texas A&M University Press). She served as the Founding Project Director for the Handbook of Texas Women, and she was the digital media author, from 2009-2014, for W. W. Norton’s Give Me Liberty by Eric Foner.
