Joseph Arena received his PhD in History from the Ohio State University in 2014. A historian of capitalism, he has presented his work at the Business History Conference (BHC), the Policy History Conference, at a joint meeting of the BHC and the European Business History Association, and at Ohio State’s Modern U.S. Seminar. The title of his dissertation is “Closer to the Edge: New York City and the Triumph of Risk” and focuses on the diffusion of a “culture of risk” in the city and the United States through capital markets, electoral politics, intellectual discourse, cultural production, and new social movements between 1973 and 1992.
