Nicholas Breyfogle is co-editor of Origins: Current Events in Historical Perspective and Associate Professor of History at The Ohio State University. The author/editor of six books, he is a specialist in modern Russian and environmental history, especially the human history of water. He is currently working on two projects. The first, “Baikal: The Great Lake and its People,” is an environmental history of the Lake Baikal region of Siberia from the 17th to the 20th centuries. The second, “Water: A Human History,” explores from a global perspective the place of water in the human experience.
