Steven Higley is a PhD student at The Ohio State University. Originally from Marion, Ohio, he is a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served as a construction surveyor. This included service in South Korea in 1988, the year of the Seoul Olympics. After three years inspecting construction in Columbus, Ohio, the highlight of which was work on the Columbus Convention Center, and an attempt at settling in Montana, Mr. Higley worked as a professional land surveyor in Baraboo, Wisconsin from 1994 to 2006. From 2006 to 2009, Mr. Higley was Director of Surveying at Pesterfield Associates, in Asheville, North Carolina. Due to the decline in the housing market, Mr. Higley returned to university. He holds a BA in Spanish and in History from Fayetteville State University (2011) and an MA in History from Appalachian State (2012).
