From time to time, we like to take a moment to highlight fantastic history sites from around the web. These are websites that – much like Origins – seek to bring history into public conversation.
This month, our Best in History Online pick comes in the form of a collaboration of historians from around the world who seek to catalogue major historic disasters on a timeline.
As stated on their website, DisasterHistory.org “grew out of a research network based in the UK at the University of Manchester with the aim of making scholarship on major disasters and humanitarian crises readily accessible to the public.” As they develop, they also “aim to serve as a forum of collaborative work and data-sharing for researchers from around the world.” DisasterHistory.org provides undergraduate and post-graduate students with the opportunity to work with specialists in the field to produce online content.
So be sure to check out their timelines for this month's innovative Best in History Online, Disaster History!
