Jim Harris is an historian of modern Europe (with a focus on Great Britain) and the history of science, medicine and the environment. He received his Ph.D. from and is currently a lecturer in the department of history at The Ohio State University. His research focuses primarily on the history of the body and the role of the state in British public health, as well as other aspects of the history of science—especially the history of infectious diseases and the history of the human sciences—as well as global environmental history and the history of the First World War
